Awesome Attendance at Soaring Eagles

By Roy Cook

SCAIR Soaring Eagle workshop, February 16, 2010, had an outstanding response by students, mentors and parent. This is still the best inter-tribal gathering to attend with our American Indian community for a sober, clean, positive, educational and cultural experience. Other organizations attend to distribute information and contact the culture active American Indian community in greater and urban San Diego!

SCAIR Senior advisor Randy Edmonds, looking very sharply dressed, delivered the blessing before the SCAIR sponsored Potluck meal. Debbie Razo and her crew served up some tasty delights. Many parents and dedicated Soaring Eagle volunteers added their potluck (cornbread) contributions to the evening’s offerings.

Great songs filled the hall and allowed Chuck to focus on personal instruction in the various categories. He called for the ‘Duck and Dive’ and other performance specialties. Chuck said, “We need to keep our positive attitude and focus on the instruction to become better dancers.” There was a bit of disappointment at the no-show of the media. But all looked great and it was a good gathering with great weather. People came to laugh, talk, and dance and have a great time this evening.

All will be good if we honor our traditions and respect every thing and each other. It is always about the Indian children.
